Newsletter - November 2025

Hello everyone. How are you all? Well I hope. It's been a little while since the last newsletter and it's safe to say that there's been a lot happening. For one thing, our little shop is no longer the only record shop in Carshalton, as we have now been joined by our good friends Looking For The Magic, who have moved from Sutton to a new shop in Beynon Road, up in the 'West End'. And we've already seen that people are travelling to Carshalton because there are now two record shops, as well as all the great pubs, cafes, shops and galleries in town (village?). And to further enhance our status as a vinyl hub in the area, Looking For The Magic and ourselves are co-organising a record fair, which is planned for March 7th 2026 at CryerArts, and, as far as I'm aware will be the first record fair that Carshalton has ever had, although I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong about that.

On to new release news now. Incoming over the next 2 or 3 weeks we have some really exciting new albums, all of which are pictured below. A rich and varied mix it is too, with two film scores - Ron Geesin's 'Ghost Story' and James Stevens' 'They Came From Beyond Space', a triumphant Garage-rock return from Thee Headcoatees with 'Man-Trap', Tim Hill's stark and atmospheric ambient work 'Leviathan Whispers', the wonderfully effervescent and evocative 'Holy Island, from Alabama dream pop/ shoegaze duo Sister Ray Davies, plus the brilliant debut from Goblin Band, 'A Loaf Of Wax' - a wonderfully authentic and energetic take on traditional folk music, recorded live.

Thee Headcoatees - Man-Trap
Sister Ray Davies - Holy Island
James Stevens - They Came From Beyond Space
Goblin Band - A Loaf Of Wax
Tim Hill - Leviathan Whispers
Ron Geesin - Ghost Story
Christmas Pop-Ups!!

To see in the festive season, we are also having two Christmas Pop-Up events at the shop.

The first of those will be a Clothing Pop-Up, on Saturday 6th December, for which will be joined by Green Street Vintagewear, Carnell Clothing and Flutterbye Pre-loved, who between them will be offering a fantastic range of retro, vintage and pre-loved fashion & band T-shirts to suit everyone.

Then the following Saturday, 13th December, we will be joined by our pals Graham, Al and Gary for a Music & Film Pop-Up. On offer on the day will be a large selection of acoustic & electric guitars, amp & music gear, film & music posters of all shapes & sizes, and music books & memorabilia. Plus, we are delighted to say that we will have a limited number of copies of the current best-selling, authorised biography 'Paul Weller: Dancing Through The Fire', exclusively signed for us by author Dan Jennings.

Please pop along to one, or preferably both! It'll be great to see you - they both promise to be special days and a great way to vary the usual Xmas shopping routine.

So that's all for today folks. There will be Cult Film Club news to follow shortly, but for now, take care, keep enjoying the music and we hope to see you soon :)
