Hello everyone. Another heatwave is upon us, and so is Carshalton Festival! This newsletter is just to recap on all the exciting stuff that is happening in our world over the next couple of weeks.

Our first event is one that we've been planning for a while now; this Saturday 27th June we are finally able to unveil 'Pond Life - A Carshalton Fanzine.'

Initially inspired by zines such as Weird Walk, Marshlore and Tell It To The Bees, we thought it would be great to produce something similar for Carshalton and the surrounding area, with a focus on the art, music and folklore of the area, so we did just that.

There are 48 full colour pages of artwork and features, including interviews with local musical legends Danny George Wilson and Ian Bickerton, plus features on Machines of Loving Grace, Carshalton Artists Open Studios, the Carshalton Jazz scene and the town's many and varied pubs. Plus spooky tales and historical imaginings and a stack of brilliant artwork, all by local artists.  

We're really happy with the way it's all come together, and we are so greateful to everyone who has contributed and helped in any way. 

Pond Life we be available in the shop this Saturday, from 12pm. 500 hand-numbered copies, £3 each with all profits to be donated to local charities. 

Immediately following that, we are hosting the brilliant new film by artist Neal Vaughan 'The River', which has now sold out. 

On Sunday 28th June, the shop will be open as normal from 12pm to 4 pm, and then from 5:30pm we are hosting another film premiere, this time a Folk Horror movie by the name of 'We Who Hunger'. For more details and tickets click here. 

The shop will be open as normal on Thursday 2nd July and Friday 3rd July, although we will be closing early on the Friday as we will be heading 'up west' to the Windsor Castle, Carshalton Road, where we are co-hosting 'Carshalton City Limits' with our pals Looking For The Magic. An evening of live music across 2 stages, with an absolutely brilliant list of musicians, including Hannah Scott, Annie Dressner, Alan Tyler, Danny George Wilson, Peter Bruntnell and more besides, plus DJ sets from Vic Mars, Opal X, Stonecirclesampler and ourselves. It all kicks off at 5 and entrance is free!

And then, to round things off in style, we are hosting our first live in-store gig on Sunday July 5th, at 2pm, when our great pal Astrud will be performing as Opal X:

"Astrud Steehouder’s Opal X project presents Swandive, the debut of a new piece of Lynchian electronics and guitar drones, blending elements of shoegaze with 80s electro synth-pop and goth post-punk."

Admission is free and the shop will be open as normal.

Just a note to say that Tyla Marilyn's in-store performance on Sunday 28th June has now been postponed. Exciting things are happening for Tyla at the moment and she had an opportunity she couldn't turn down. We will re-arrange for a future date :)
