Hello people. How have you been? Staying cool in these stifling temperatures we hope. And talking of 'cool', we will begin with the very 'cool' news that Carshalton Record Fair is back! After the huge success of the inaugral event in March, it's happening again on Saturday 12th September, same venue - CryerArts Centre, 39 High Street, Carshalton, SM5 3BB, 11am 'til 5pm, entry is free. 10 + dealers offering masses of LPs, 45s, CDs & music memorabilia to suit all tastes and budgets. Come join us, it's going to be great :)  

Onto more news of a cool nature, in terms of external temperature at least; we are nipping off to Sweden for a bit of a break next Monday so will be closed for the week, so that's Thursday 13th through to Sunday 16th August inclusive. We'll be open again as normal from Thursday August 20th.

Meanwhile, there have been a lot of new releases incoming of late, and this week we are truly spoilt for choice. First up we have not one but three new LPs from the star of the recent Prog Proms, Jane Weaver. They aren't actually new, but are wonderfully packaged, colour vinyl re-issues of Jane's first 3 albums, starting with an Apricot vinyl pressing of 'Like An Aspen Leaf' originally released in 2002, then 'Seven Day Smile' from 2006 on Gold vinyl, and last but not least, 'Cherlokalate' on Silver vinyl. All now in and shop bound this Thursday. 

Then we have another reissue in the form of afro-funk legends Cymande, with a lovely transparent green vinyl version of their excellent second LP, the appropriately titled 'Second Time Around', originally released in 1973. 

On top of that, we have the new Panda Bear / Sonic Boom collaboration, 'A ? Of When' - an intoxicating blend of Beach Boy-zy sunshine pop and hazy, narcotic Spacemen 3 soundscapes - and more epic soundscapes from Japanese post-rockers Mono, with 'Snowdrop'. Plus we have some welcome reissues in the form of Popol Vuh's 'Affenstunde' and 'Einsjäger und Siebenjäger', from Esoteric Recordings, and from Circuitry Records we have a Gold vinyl 2 LP reissue of The Eighteenth Day Of May's self-titled debut, a brilliant re-imagining of early 70's acid & folk-rock that should have attracted far more attention than it did when first released back in 2006. 

And that's not forgetting all the brilliant vintage LPs, 45s and CDs we have incoming over the next few weeks too, so hold on to your hats!

Before we go, just a reminder that the Scarred For Life team are coming to CryerArts, the first time they have ever performed in London. Bob Fischer and Stephen Brotherstone bring their unique and humorous take on 70's & 80's pop culture to town, and will be airing their new Folk-Horror show in the main theatre on Thursday 29th October, just in time for Halloween. For fans of classic horror, 70's & 80's TV weirdness, this is a must-see. For members of the Haunted Generation in general, it's vital you attend for your own piece of mind ...
